Hunters who need to complete a New York hunter safety course before getting their hunting license now can get started on their official training at hunter-ed.com/newyork/.
“Hunter-ed.com’s New York course will teach the same state-approved content that we use in the classroom, so students can expect a high-quality education online,” said Chuck Dente, sportsman education program administrator for the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. “With the new videos and the ability to take the course even on a smartphone, this is a great option for those New York students who wish to take the online course to satisfy the home study portion of hunter education. Students will still need to complete the hands-on field day portion of the course before they can be certified to hunt in New York.”
Hunter-ed.com features Kalkomey’s award-winning hunter safety videos, which are designed to be fun to watch while presenting important safety information. These short videos cover safety topics such as tree stand hunting safety, firearms safety, hunting from a ground blind, effectiveness of blaze orange and more. For more information or to take the online portion of the course, visit http://www.hunter-ed.com/newyork/.
Students also can take their New York hunter safety course on a smartphone, tablet, e-reader, laptop or Internet TV. The course pages will automatically adjust to fit any device with no app required so the videos, graphics and animations are always easy to see.
New York law requires anyone 12 years or older to complete a hunter safety course before obtaining a New York hunting license. To complete New York hunter education requirements, students must take either a traditional or a home study course. The online course at hunter-ed.com is acceptable as home study, but must be followed by registering for a hunter education field day.
“The era of mandatory hunter safety training started in 1949 as the result of legislation in New York. Their program has remained strong and effective since its inception,” said Kurt Kalkomey, president of Kalkomey Enterprises, Inc. “The new addition of an online course provides yet another great option for New York students to become safer hunters.”
Students can study for free at hunter-ed.com/newyork/.
