Pennsylvania online boating safety course and exam helps boaters prepare for a safe summer offers convenient Pennsylvania boater education courses.

DALLAS — Summer is here, so it's the perfect time to help make Pennsylvania boating safer and more enjoyable. It's easy to become an educated, responsible boater by taking the Boat Pennsylvania online boating course. (

Boat Pennsylvania has been the official online boat education course of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission since 2001. With Boat Pennsylvania, students earn their Boater Education Certificate online to comply with Pennsylvania law. Although it's often called a boating license (or jet ski license), the certificate isn't like a driver's license—it's good for life and never has to be renewed.

The course allows students to move quickly through short segments designed for bite-sized reading and quick comprehension. Learning is reinforced with interactive animations so students feel like they're on the water as they study casting off and docking, rescue techniques, the "Circle of Death," and other boating safety course topics.

Students study the fast-paced online boating course when it fits their schedule—setting up a free account and logging in or out as they wish. The online boating test fee includes the boat course, unit quizzes, and the online boating license test. No payment is required until students pass the final boating exam.

One student wrote: "The course was fantastic. I learned a lot and will feel much more confident taking my family on the water. Best of all, I was able to learn at my own pace and get certified from the comfort of my home."

After passing the Pennsylvania certification exam (or boat license exam), boaters have the opportunity to purchase online their permanent Pennsylvania Boater Education Certificate (for an additional state fee). Students can immediately print out a temporary boating education certificate (or boating license, as it's sometimes called) to take on the water until their permanent certificate arrives.

Some prefer to learn about boating safety as a family, so Boat Ed® also offers the official Boat Pennsylvania video home-study course ( The Boat Pennsylvania DVD includes more than an hour of exciting on-the-water action sequences.
