South Carolina launches new online hunter safety course

Hunting seasons are just around the corner, and hunter-ed.com has launched a new South Carolina hunter education course. Successfully completing a hunter education course is a requirement for purchasing a South Carolina hunting license. Students take the fast-paced hunter safety course online when it fits their schedule, then complete their hunter education certification by attending an in-person exam led by South Carolina hunter safety instructors.

DALLAS — Geared toward young people, hunter-ed.com's hunting safety course is narrated so students can listen, read or both. Quiz questions are read out loud and include pictures to help students recall what they've learned. Hundreds of detailed illustrations and animations give students a clear idea of what to expect once they're in the field. Although it's kid-friendly, the hunting and firearm safety content is comprehensive. (www.hunter-ed.com/SouthCarolina)

Joshua Burnett, a student who took the hunter-ed.com course, said it was a positive experience.

"Your site has been great. I am a Marine and have had countless hours behind all sorts of weapons, but the information I have received from your course has been irreplaceable. I thought it was going to be a drag and boring, but I have actually enjoyed the course very much."

Successfully completing a hunter education course is mandatory for most hunting license buyers born after June 30, 1979. In addition to the online hunter education option, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources selected hunter-ed.com to provide hunter safety courses via CD-ROM and traditional classroom student manuals. Hunter-ed.com is now the exclusive provider of the South Carolina hunter education course for all three delivery methods—classroom, CD-ROM and the online hunter safety course.

Since 2002, more than one million students have taken a hunter-ed.com hunter safety course.

"We are gratified that so many state agencies and students have selected Hunter-Ed.com to be their hunter education partner," said Kurt Kalkomey, president of Kalkomey Enterprises, Inc. "Hunter-Ed.com continually innovates so that we can introduce more folks to the rich heritage of hunting. Our motto is 'Get safe, get certified' so you can maximize your enjoyment of the outdoors. These days, very few people can devote an entire weekend or multiple weeknights to take a classroom hunting course. The hunter-ed.com online course saves time and money, and opens up hunting opportunities for young people."

Hunter-ed.com's South Carolina hunter safety course material is free to the public. Students pay $15.00 to print out an online course completion voucher that admits them to an in-person exam.

Hunter-ed.com is a division of Kalkomey Enterprises, Inc., which publishes more than 190 hunter education products selected by 48 states. For more information about official hunter safety courses and state requirements for hunter education, please visit www.hunter-ed.com.
